Child Safety on the Information Superhighway

Final Thoughts

The Windmill Company BBS has worked hard to provide a safe environment for all online users. As a result, we have cultivated a number of contacts in law enforcement over the years. If you should run across any situation that causes concern and don't know where to turn, we'd be more than happy to help put you in contact with those who could help.

It's a sad fact, but the activities going on in Cyberspace are merely reflecting our changing world. Just as you need to be vigilant when your children play outdoors, you must pay attention to their online activities

It's true, this generation is the first to have grown up in the new computer age. As a result, not all of us possess the same skills as our children do. Don't let this stop you. Learning to compute with your child is probably the single-most important step you can take to helping to safeguard him or her and it's a lot of fun!

Bill Curnow has given a number of presentations based on this material. If your group or organization is interested in having him talk to you, please let him know.

Finally we'd like to thank the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Lawrence J. Magid, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times, for allowing us to reprint much of this information
